O que é Kinetic Energy Calculator?

Kinetic Energy (KE) is the energy an object possesses because it is moving. In classical mechanics, it is defined as the work needed to accelerate a body of a given mass from rest to its stated velocity.

The equation KE = ½mv² shows that speed is far more influential than mass when it comes to total energy, because the velocity term is squared.

Como Usar

Conversion Table (Standard Examples)

Bullet (10g, 400m/s)
800 Joules
Baseball (145g, 40m/s)
116 Joules
Car (1500kg, 30m/s)
675,000 Joules

The V² Factor

Because velocity is squared, doubling your speed (from 20 to 40) doesn't just double your kinetic energy—it quadruples it. This is why car crashes at 60 mph are significantly more fatal than those at 30 mph.

Speed 1x
Energy 1x
Speed 3x
Energy 9x!

Conservation of Energy

Kinetic energy isn't created from nothing. In a falling object, Potential Energy (height) is gradually converted into Kinetic Energy as the object accelerates downward due to gravity.

Total Mechanical Energy = KE + PE

Perguntas Frequentes

Perguntas comuns sobre esta calculadora

What is a Joule?

A Joule (J) is the standard SI unit of energy. Dropping a medium apple from about 1 meter height generates 1 Joule of kinetic energy just before it hits the ground.

Can kinetic energy be negative?

No. Because mass is always positive and velocity is squared (making it positive), kinetic energy is always zero or positive. It is a scalar quantity, meaning it has no direction.

What about molecules?

In chemistry, the average kinetic energy of the molecules in a substance is what we perceive as "Temperature". Faster moving molecules mean higher heat.

How is it different from momentum?

Momentum (p=mv) measures how hard it is to stop an object. Kinetic Energy (KE=½mv²) measures the capacity of the moving object to do work or cause damage.
